Substantial Sessions 07: Empire State of Mind

Internet Week New York is upon us! We've worked with the Internet Week team for the last couple of years (this year we're their development partner) but this is the first time we're going to descend upon the Big Apple to take in the event for ourselves. Doing our part to celebrate the festivities, we bring you a mix from IWNY executive producer (and Bastard Jazz Recordings cohort) Steve Marchese.

When asked to describe the mix, here's what Steve says:
"Completely on the fly save the first track which I had in mind for a while. It's the sound of the 70 hour week. Of your son learning to speak the words "Dad, you work too much." Both happy and sad in a sense. Scattered and at times accomplished. Some of the mixes are clean, others are a bit jerky. Unplanned and instinctual. Just wanted to get you guys some good fucking songs."
