Here’s a peek at our upcoming events for February. We’ll update this post as new things are added, but these are all listed on our events calendar as well. Most descriptions are from the events’ respective sites.

Speaking Engagements:

Jennifer Sukis at AIGA’s Visual Design In A Digital World: A Moderated Panel – February 25 Visual design is everywhere in our daily lives. Yet much of it is increasingly found on digital form factors which don’t necessarily follow the tenets of traditional graphic design. This one hour moderated panel will explore the shifting landscape of what it means to be a visual designer in today’s tech-centric world. Topics will range from the evolution of print design to more dynamic mediums, the adaptation of requisite skill sets, and how we’ve moved from skeumorphism to a flat aesthetic to whatever trend might come next.

Other Meetups:

Seattle.rb Monthly Meetup – February 3 Seattle.rb was the first Ruby and Rails user group in North America and has met regularly for over a decade. We convene every Tuesday night to contribute to open source, work on personal projects, and teach and learn from one another. All skill levels are welcome!

Beer&&Code– February 4 & 18 Beer&&Code is a coder’s meetup in Seattle. A typical Beer&&Coder likes to use any programming language for work or for fun, enjoy a tasty drink, meet other Beer&&Coders and be a part of a community, and be challenged and learn from others. Whether you are new developer, a veteran, a designer, or none of those, you can hang out at Beer&&Code.

Refresh Seattle – February 25 Refresh Seattle is a community of designers and developers working to refresh the creative, technical, and professional culture of New Media endeavors in the Seattle/Puget Sound area. Promoting design, technology, usability, and standards, Refresh Seattle is a part of Refresh and the associated Refreshing Cities

Design Thinking & Innovation Collective – February 26 Seattle Design Thinking & Innovation Collective aims to bring people together from a wide variety of industries, backgrounds and roles to collaborate and discuss practices, methodologies, tactics and experiences to help us collectively bring innovative ideas to the world.
